Exploring: Augmented Reality, Geolocation and Robotics. (Sociology)

Resultado de imagen de tics en el aula primaria

On Wednesday, 13th April, 2016, we were on a meeting about the use of Augmented Reality, Geolocation and Robotics in the primary education classroom.

Cati Navarro Guillermo, preschool teacher, told us how she uses normally ICT to teach her students explaining us some of the resources that she uses.

As we could see in the other meeting, she also uses QR codes because she consideres that children learn in a motivational way. She uses these codes in relation with Augmented Reality, because she capture a code and using the tablet, the students can see an image, a draw... in three dimensions. Pupils can see what the teacher wants.

Using augmented reality the teacher can bring students to literacy, for example they can do videos making their first letter of their names and then all of them can watch the videos and learn all the letters. We can also combine augmented reality and interactive activities, for example if we want that the students learn about the characters of a book such as: Don Quijote de la Mancha. We can also work with famous paintings, interpreting them.

She also said that augmented reality is useful to collaborate in campaigns, or making an interactive encyclopedia in which students explain through videos the different contents.

About Robotics she was talking about bebot which is useful to learn programming and the different directions, as we could see in the other meeting. She said that her school doesn't have too much money, so teachers design the different patterns to can use bebot.

She also use Scratch during her lessons. We also knew scratch in the other meeting.

About Geolocation, she told us about a project called "Around the World in Eighty Days". Using Google Earth and Earthquest, the students can learn interesting things from the cities around the world, they can visit museums in a digital way, the different cultures and also they can learn anything they want to learn about a city and see it immediately.

In my opinion, I think that the most interesting thing about this meeting is geolocation, because I could know the other types of ICT in the other meeting, but I also thing that geolocation is so motivational for pupils and they can learn by their own experience.

If you want to read the information about the first meeting, you can do that reading the previous post.
